The Pixel Watch 2 got better than the first one, but the Pixel Watch 3 can be even better.
A feature that I think would be great is longer battery life. As seen, this is a general problem for many smartwatch manufacturers, including Google. Since health tracking is recently gaining significance, the watch would better track sleep and general health if it had a longer battery life.
However, more I am expecting from Pixel Watch 3. I want additional health features but not with having to subscribe to the Fitbit Premium membership. I also would like new wellness measurements options and clothes of different size. Typically, Google unveils its new Pixel gadgets, for instance, pixel watch, phones during Google’s fall event which generally takes place in October. Therefore, the Pixel watch 3 is also likely to follow that schedule in the year 2024.
Google Pixel Watch 3 review
The testing of the batteries for smartwatches is certainly a headache. Normally, the Pixel Watch 2 needs to be charged once every twenty-four hours like its rivals, Apple and Samsung watches. However, the good thing about the Pixel Watch 2 is that even if you use it continuously and with the always-on display activated at all times, it can last for a day, according to Google’s innovation. Hopefully, they will improve on it further with the Pixel Watch 3.
The longer duration of the Pixel Watch 3’s battery could be presumed to be even more dependable. Google has brought an innovation by using its new Wear OS with a watch’s main chip and another one, which consumes less power, thus saving energy and enabling the battery to last longer. This is a feature that all Wear OS watches benefit from, not just Google ones; as already witnessed in the latest OnePlus Watch 2.
A difference in the Wear OS smartwatches to be noticed is the fact that energy-saving enhancements, matched up with any adjustments made by Google to the Pixel Watch 3’s battery, may indicate that it stays a lot longer. That matters because Fitbit fitness tracking tools belong to Google, thus a distinguishing feature for Pixel Watch as compared to other Wear OS smartwatches .Sleep tracking is a big part of staying healthy, and it’s hard to track if you have to charge your watch every night.
Just like before, the Pixel Watch 2 only comes in one size, 41 mm. For me, with my small wrist, that’s fine, but I know others might find the screen a bit small. When we were checking out mountain biking with our friend Stephen Shankly and, he mentioned it can be tough to see all the info on the Pixel Watch 2.
Most other smartwatches offer two sizes to fit more people. Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 6, for example, comes in both 40mm and 44mm options, while Apple’s Series 9 offers 41mm and 45mm sizes. But Google isn’t alone in sticking to one size. The OnePlus Watch 2 and the Tic Watch Pro 5 also come in only one size, though they’re better suited for folks with larger wrists.
According to a report from 9to5Google, the next Pixel Watch might change things up and offer both 41mm and 45mm options, following in the footsteps of Samsung and Apple.
The Daily Readiness Score was introduced by Fitbit in 2021 to measure how activity, sleep, and heart rate affect the levels of your rest. In 2024, Google intends to develop this idea to make it more unique compared to competitors. While now the score only gives advice on sleep and activity, there is a possibility for a more holistic rating that includes stress levels. The AI-enabled Fitbit Labs from Google will soon help users establish health goals, track progress based on integrated health data points with fitness results.
Google offers three years of software updates for the Pixel Watch. While that’s not a bad thing, the company is offering support for its Pixel phones for much longer. The Pixel 8 series will get new Android versions in seven years, compared to the Pixel Watch’s three-year span. Since smartphones are a bigger part of daily life than smartwatches, it makes sense for Google to expand support for Pixel phones.
Still, I’d at least like to see Google catch up to Samsung, which has backed its Galaxy Watch 6 series with five years of software updates. Only Google knows what happens next with the Pixel Watch and its other products. But a durable Pixel Watch with advanced health tracking and a smarter virtual assistant would make Google’s next watch unbeatable.
Google has already deployed something akin to its Gemini model on smartphones, and smartwatch is next, I hope. The current iteration of Google Assistant is already quite responsive to ‘Hey Google’ commands to set a timer, to check the weather, or to quickly start a workout. I could imagine an even smarter assistant on a smartwatch to have many uses.
What about a smarter version of Google Assistant that summarizes incoming notifications or emails for you, instead of just flashing them on your wrist? With the Pixel Watch screen so small, it really needs an assistant to reduce the amount of tapping, swiping or scrolling. Maybe a smarter version of Google Assistant can help And, after Gemini’s image generation algorithm was caught making inauthentic pictures of long-dead humans, perhaps it’s not surprising that Google’s empire-building into new hardware devices has stalled.
